The Factory

Cutting Edge Woodworking is a state of the art shop. Tom Charles designed and built the 36,000 sq. ft. facility himself. The newest addition to this facility is the assembly, storage, and transportation unit which enables Cutting Edge to safely store the client’s cabinetry until it is time for installation. The shop features two spray-finish rooms and the only fully automated, precision cabinet making system in Colorado’s Central Mountain region.

The System

This system is an Italian-made CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) cutting machine that mills cabinets designed in AutoCAD and other drafting programs. Exceedingly efficient, the system mills cabinetry to perfection while keeping waste to a minimum. European boxes, face frame cabinetry, or unique furniture pieces, this technology combined with high level of craftsmanship creates limitless possibilities. Additionally, a homeowner will enjoy beautiful dovetail drawer boxes made of solid beech.

The Finishing

While technology is a cherished partner in the construction phase of these fine cabinets, there is one facet of the custom cabinet building process that must be completed by hand, the finishing. All staining, glazing, and distressing are completed one door at a time by hand. All Cutting Edge cabinetry is available in an almost unlimited range of woods and finishes. Just a few of the finish options offered include painted, distressed, antique, wire-brushed, glazed, and rub-through. Tom and his team take great pride in producing a beautifully hand-finished product.
